In Dedication to my Baby Girl
Princess Leia
2010-2022
In the summer of 2010, my Wife and I went to our local Animal Shelter to spread some joy and love to the poor dogs and cats locked away and forgotten, never our attention to adopt. It was the way we spent our " Day Dates" while being new parents to a little boy. We spent hours talking and petting all the animals that would appreciate our attention. Closing time was nearing and we decided to head over across the way to the City's Kill Shelter to see if any lost soul could use some last-minute happiness and comfort, when I came across a kennel filled with 5 puppies sleeping with a red tag 2:00 PM end of life. With minutes to spare I saw the runt of the litter on the bottom of the dog pile I gasped, and fate flashed before my eyes as I saw into the future, I knew I had to safe this little one's life. I ran to the front office franticly out of breath I said, “I would like to adopt one of the puppies in the red tag cage"
As I returned, I saw the joy and happiness in my wife's eyes when I said, "she's all ours". As we waited for the animal control worker to unlock the cage, the little one made her way out of the pile and two of the most ginormous ears and round eyes looked up at us and became frozen in time as she knew it fate as well, Once left to die with no understanding of life her thin tiny tail wagging at x100bpm . We only had a few minutes to sit with her while the paperwork was being printed, we fell in love with her small runt the size of Coke Can running in happiness back and forth between us giving us her kisses. The downside since she was a week old, we had to wait 7 days to take her home, it was the hardest 7 days of our life's but when the day came to go pick her up, we all rushed over in eagerness.
My Wife and Son sat in the waiting room as I finished the adoption paper work and was allowed in the back kennels where she was laying in sad state until I misty eyed yelled out " baby girl" she perked up and started to scratch her way out in joy to see me again, I told her it's time to go home and opened her cage she flew into my arms and began to lick my face all over, I walked over to my family and introduced her as Princess Leia as her big ‘ol floppy ears perked straight up when she saw my son and began licking his face as he giggled my wife and I knew how lucky we were to add her not as a pet but as daughter to us and sister to our son
We had many adventures from road trips and plane rides to hanging out all day at office working with her daddy bringing joy smiles to all she would meet.
baby girl Mommy, Daddy Your Brothers and Sisters love you with all our hearts.
Thank you for everything love.
